The Influence of the Economic Cycle on the Development of Insurance in Czech Republic and Germany

This thesis analyzes the impact of the economic cycle on the insurance market in the Czech Republic and Germany and partly compares these markets. In the first part thesis describes the most important basis, sets out specific goals and defines the basic terms of insurance and macroeconomics, namely the issue of the economic cycle and GDP. Furthermore, on the basis of statistical data described the development of the Czech insurance market and partly German insurance market and in certain points performs comparison of Czech Republic and Germany. Finally, the thesis analyzes insurance and factors affecting it. Work has focused primarily on exploring insurance depending on the development of gross domestic product in both the Czech Republic and Germany.

Filtration of time series

Thesis is aimed at describing the concepts and basic principles in the economy in gross domestic product. Furthermore it deals with the description of time series, their types, characteristics and the basic classification. A decomposition of time series into thein components is indicated. Another part is a basic description of the most commonly used economic filters - Hodrick-Prescott and Baxter-King. The Christiano-Fitzgerald and frequency-selective filter for short length time series have been practically implemented in MATLAB. The rest of the thesis deals with the application of above mentioned filters to data of Czech Republic, European Union, USA and selected EU countries. Moreover, the correlation between spectral components of the data for selected countries is investigated. KEYWORDS

Representation of selected sustainable development indicators in Ceska televize

Presented diploma thesis discusses the process of making environmental claims in the Czech environment and aims to find at least partial explanation for the dominance of GDP as main economic indicator in the public discourse. The work is theoretically framed by the concept of social construction of environmental problems by John Hannigan, in which the media play an essential role. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the theoretical basis of the social constructivist perspective and various aspects of news content production. It also assesses selected claims-makers in the Czech environment and further presents selected concepts of sustainable development indicators. The research of this work is based on a qualitative strategy and is carried out through semi-structured interviews with actors involved in the process of defining, presenting and legitimating environmental issues. The research seeks answers to following research questions: What is the process of claims-making about GDP growth and alternative indicators? How do the individual actors subjectively interpret the process of claims-making in which they are involved, as part of their social reality? Monetary policy of the Czech National Bank

This bachelor thesis is divided into two major parts. The first part is focused on the general theory of monetary policy which includes tools, targets and transmission machanisms. The aim of this part is to summarize information about process of monetary policy and to provide information for better understanding of the practical part. This part is focused on foreign exchange interventions used by Czech National Bank who was making an effort to accomplish the goals determined by law. The practical part is divided into two minor parts. The first of them is focused on analysis of economic indicators before, during and after foreign exchange interventions. The second part is focused on the development of EUR to CZK exchange rate which was deviated from real exchange rate.

Chosen natural resources: focuses of conflicts nad its economic consequences

The bachelor´s thesis aims to three chosen natural resources, which are petroleum, natural gas and water, and conflicts based on disputes over them. The aim of the thesis was to valorize nature of the conflicts, define their main focus and draw prospective economic consequences. Professional literature that deals with this kind of issue, was used in order to find out the true nature of the conflicts. The result is an evaluation, which has proven, that the most influental conflicts are rising over disputes over petroleum. Their economic and political impacts are very perceptible and economically measurable in the way of GDP, the total product and other economic indicators. In the thesis has been also proven that the conflicts on the basis of natural gas have similiar nature and extent as it is in the case of petroleum, even thought in a smaller amount. The least important conflicts in a meaning of economic impacts are those over water, by those has been proven, that they do not poses such an impact on economic and political situation as petroleum or natural gas nowdays.
